Who We Are
At WP ABCD, we follow the Assets-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach - a method that focuses on identifying and leveraging the strengths, skills, and resources already present within a community. Rather than emphasizing problems and deficits, ABCD empowers individuals and groups to take ownership of their development, fostering self-reliance, collaboration, and sustainable progress. By tapping into local talents, relationships, and opportunities, communities can drive meaningful change from within, creating long-lasting solutions tailored to their unique needs and aspirations.
Our Approach: Assets-Based Community Development (ABCD)
Our Focus : Sustainable projects that grow from the community’s own strengths
Our Commitment : Inclusive, collaborative and community-led projects
What We Do
Affirming Community Strengths
We walk alongside communities, helping them recognize their own gifts, skills and resources.
Building Sustainable Livelihoods
We support local producers through training, mentoring and market connections, so that families can build steady livelihoods.
Cultivating Collaboration and Partnerships
We work hand and hand with government agencies, NGOs and social enterprises.
Deepening Volunteer and Community Engagement
We open doors for youth, churches and organizations to participate in community projects.
Our Mission:
WP ABCD is dedicated to empowering communities by building on their strengths, skills and resources, encouraging ownership, spirit of Bayanihan, and sustainable progress that preserves culture, strengthens identity and promotes holistic development.
Our Vision:
Thriving communities that celebrate their unique gifts, sustain their culture and build a strong, united and resilient generation.
Our Core Values
Bayanihan (Founded on Partnerships)
Bayanihan embodies the Filipino spirit of working together. We partner with communities, government, NGOs, and other stakeholders to develop sustainable community projects built on local strength – just like bayanihan, where people come together, help one another and move together as one.
Kapit-Bisig (Founded on Mutual Support)
True progress happens when everyone stands kapit-bisig – linking arms and walking toward a shared vision. We include everyone in the development process, regardless of their background, identity, or status.
Pagpapanday ng Lakas ng Loob (Founded on Empowerment)
Pagpapanday ng lakas ng loob reflects the beauty of transformation. Pagpapanday means blacksmithing, and lakas ng loob means inner strength. Like iron shaped by fire, communities grow stronger when people are empowered. We provide the tools, knowledge and resources to help communities face their challenges. Our work focuses on building self-reliance and helping them realize their potential.
Tin-aw (Founded on Transparency)
“Tin-aw”, a Visayan word, embodies clarity and transparency. We strive to be tin-aw – transparent, clear and open – in everything we do. Whether it’s financial accountability or project progress, we ensure our operations and partnerships are accessible and understandable.
Padayon (Founded on Sustainability)
The word “padayon” is commonly used in Mindanao and the Visayas region. It means “continue,” “carry on,” or “keep going.” We build with the future in mind. We build projects that offer sustainable solutions.
WP ABCD Key Principles
Asset-Based
We start by identifying the community’s strengths and local resources to establish a foundation for growth.
Building Together
Every member is valued. We strengthen connections by uniting diverse voices toward the success of shared vision.
Community – Driven
The people themselves lead the way in designing, implementing and owning the process of community transformation.
Dynamic Sustainability
We emphasize long-term development ensuring that community members can maintain the projects and that the projects are shaped to thrive long after initial support.
Our Team
WP ABCD is a group of passionate individuals dedicated to creating real change. From field coordinators and community facilitators to project managers and support staff, our team works hand-in-hand with local communities to ensure the success of every initiative.
